And right now we are two minutes away from the end of the trading day. Romaine Bostick here to take you through the closing bell with a global simulcast. We're joined now by Carol Massar Hinton. Welcome to our audiences across all of our Bloomberg platforms. Television, radio. Our partnership with YouTube here. On a day where most of the US stocks are in the red. All of the indices are in the red and Carol Massar is looking tan as, hey, what are you doing, Carol?

Out on the water. It's been, uh, really nice to be away. I did miss you guys and I followed from afar, but, um, nice to be out in the fresh air in the sun. Uh, getting a little bit of vitamin D. We are glad to have you back, Carol. Thank you. Uh, you know. Yeah. I just want to know, is that maize or yellow? Your soup. Ooh. Wow. I like the I like maize. I don't know what that means. Yeah. These, you know, like corn. Corn.

Oh, okay. Yeah, sure. It's okay. I know you missed me, right? I thought it was more gold, but, uh. Hey, you believe you believe what you need to believe? I mean, I like to believe. All right, all right. Okay, I'm going to get us back. Can I get out of the way? No. I get us on entourage. We're waiting for Steph. Oh, we're not waiting for. I mean, we are waiting to see what I mean. Waiting to see what happens in the Middle East.

I mean, the focus of our conversation over the last hour has really been the most recent kinetic action. I think it's fair to say the U.S. hitting Iranian tankers near Kharg Island, a U.S. official telling Fox, uh, this is supposedly part of the US's effort to squeeze Iran economically, according to the reporter who posted this on ABC's. But nonetheless, we're seeing oil move higher. And it just adds, of course, to the uncertainty and the volatility.

Brent crude oil futures, which earlier in the session overnight uh topped out intraday at about $99.46. They had dropped back below 97. But on the back of that headline spiking back up now just a smidge below 99 bucks a barrel. That's it. Headline also sent S&P to session lows on the day. It's going to close just off the session. Lows down roughly about 45 points or about 6/10 of 1%. The Dow losing about 600 points at 1.2%.

The Nasdaq Composite down about 3/10 of a percent, and the Russell 2000 down 15 points, or 5/10 of a percent, to close out this Tuesday afternoon. Just remember, September is historically the weakest month for stocks. So um, just going to point that out. There was so much coming at us. He asked for the Tuesday trade. Most names in the S&P 500 guys were lower. Uh, remain 357 to the downside, 146 to the upside. Absolutely.

And we talk about, uh, the sectors that actually moved on the day. And, well, you're going to have to look long and hard to find them. Tech, of course, one of the big decliners on the day. And no surprise there, energy stocks getting a bid, a modest bid, we should say here on this Tuesday afternoon as a lot of people start to price in not just higher oil prices, but remember, it's a lot of those refined products, U.S. diesel prices on average now at a record high.

All right guys, let's go to Wow. A lot of red there. So let's see what, uh, if my gainers hold true here. Uh, let's talk a little bit about, uh, bloom energy never pure. Uh, both stocks rising. Bloom energy up 9.6%. Ever pure up about 1.6%. This is rising after S&P Dow Jones Indices said late Friday, uh, before the long holiday weekend that the companies will join the S&P 500 index effective prior to the opening of trading on September 21st.

So investors like that, and we saw them moving into those names all. So we flip it on over to another board. We saw investors moving into those quantum stocks. Today, among them D-Wave quantum, Righetti Computing and quantum NEM rallying as the U.S. government is taking minority equity stakes in these companies. So you saw D-Wave up about 6.6%, Righetti a gain also in today's session. D-Wave, you can see kind of bouncing around off its recent highs, but nonetheless up 6.5% higher in Righetti computing.

We also saw, uh, I believe some gains in that one as well. So some excitement in that area. Intel got to talk about that one, I believe. And let me just like check my boards. Uh, you're number two gainer in, uh, the S&P 500. And if I look at the Nasdaq 100, we see it. Uh, also, your number three gainer, uh, Intel rallying up about 9% here. A couple of things. First, higher, following a report from DigiTimes that the company is expected to raise prices.

The report cited supply chain sources. Northland securities upgraded the chipmaker to outperform from market perform. Uh, and they've got a price target set to 120, implying a 25% increase from the last price. So a couple things going on that report about raising prices. And then you also had an upgrade from Northland Securities. So investors Tim moving in to that one. All right. What are they moving out of today I want to start with the second worst performer on a percentage basis in the S&P 500 today.

That would be Amgen down more than 10% a double dose of bad news for the company. Uh, it's working on a heart drug. And that's why it fell today, because Novartis said it's potential blockbuster heart medication. Carson failed in a final stage study. The analyst over at Baird says that the Novartis trial failure is a negative signal for Amgen. Our posture, in which it's working on as well, uh, down today, Amgen down about 10%.

It wasn't just that, though. BMO Capital Markets cut its recommendation on the company to market perform from outperform. So a double dose of bad news for Amgen today. Uh, let's talk a little bit about alcohol. Uh, STC Constellation brands is the ticker shares fell by 5.6%. Uh, the company's CEO and EVP, CFO, uh, we're speaking today at a Barclays consumer conference, and they did not have great things to say about what happened over the summer.

The World Cup tournament helped the on prem business, but off Prem was frankly pretty lackluster. That's according to a transcript of the event. August was also, quote, pretty lackluster relative to the start of the summer as gas and diesel prices started to spike back up. So maybe if people are spending more to fill up their tank, they're spending less at the liquor store. And finally, I'm looking at 80 hours of Bombardier down 2.4%.

This after President Trump suggested the company should be blocked from US sales. The president wrote on social media that if Bombardier wants the U.S. market, they must build in the US and stop treating America like a piggy bank. There is a pretty big backlog, though, for for jets these days. Ramen takes a long time to get one if you order one. I know you know, I ordered a few in your day. Uh, yeah. So, you know, can't make a big change so quickly.

I got mine on layaway. Oh, you take that off here. Let's take a quick look at yields here with the storage continues to be the same here which is a slight increase in yields I see slight because you see there we're basically talking about one basis point on your ten year yield up to about 4.7942. And change a two year yield up about three basis points to your 30 year yield. Only up about a base less than a basis point, but up for a fifth straight session.
