[music] Bloomberg Audio Studios podcasts radio news. This is the closing bell on the stock movers report. The company's [music] making moves at the close of US trading with Carol Masser, Tim Stenc, Roma Bostic, and Katie Grifeld. [music]

As Tim reminded me, you've got so many gainers to choose from. So, [music] let's go through it. I'm getting ready for Roma to criticize me. I'm sure it's coming. Um, Akami, like I still think about Honor Rana yesterday be like, I had no idea they could do this and everybody's all of a sudden starting to talk about this company 16% higher on an intraday basis today. It did not finish up that high. All right.

Well, I want Well, I'm curious. I mean, not to step on your toes, but I I I mean, what does it say about how much that faded, though? 16% uh pretty much out of the gate at the open, closing only up about 3%. still a gain, but obviously uh some people I guess maybe still a little skeptical.

I I don't disagree with you. I I think initially it's like, "Oh, wow. Look what they can do and look at the money." But uh time will tell, right? Let's just remind everybody what happened and what came down after the close yesterday. The cloud provider inked a seven-year 11.6 billion deal uh to provide computing power to Anthropic. Analysts say the deal should boost a growth and its profitability profile looks attractive given the contract is entirely focused on CPUs.

There's a lot more involved, but you're right, longer term. Let's see how this one continues to trade. There's the chart uh certainly for the day trade. Um well, well off its highs of the session. Um here's a name we don't talk a lot about. Atlas Energy Solutions, but it kind of caught my attention. AESI is the ticker and this one up more than 13% about 13.5% after it announced a purchase agreement with Wyoming machinery company for about $340 million of balance of plant equipment for a power generation project.

Companies also separately agreed to a 328 megawatt power deal under an agreement with Caterpillar. So I just think it's interesting. There's so much going on in the energy space. So, I wanted to bring that to your attention. And then I'm going to finish with a little known company known as Microsoft. It too was higher in today's session, just up about 3.6%. Microsoft merging the consumer and work workplace versions of its co-pilot AI assistant into one product uh aimed at corporate customers. uh this updated software giving users the ability to edit Word or Excel documents within a co-pilot app or browser tab and include a coding assistance to enable regular users to put together dashboards or automate tasks.

It's a lot there

still won't write my scripts.

It's what's interesting is the timing kind of coming just after um metuse and so I don't know whether that got their attention and maybe they thought maybe

to be fair I haven't tried co-pilot to write the script yet but maybe it could who knows 2B. Uh, hey, I want to start with, speaking of AI, I want to start with shares of Meta. Look at this. Okay.

Wow. Meta down 3.3%. That's not That's just an excuse for me to talk to you about how well Meta has done

in the last month.

Yeah. This is like a stealth gainer. You're a little bit

stealth gainer.

Roma, I want to take you back to November of 2022.

Oh, please.

That was such a good time.

The Houseion day.

No, I mean, Roma, there were some people around here who were leaving Meta for dead.

Yeah. Because you know why?

Why?

Cuz it changed its name to Meta and said we're all going to be living in the metaverse.

Yeah, I remember that. With no legs.

Well, guess what? We're not doing that. Instead, we're living in a world where everyone's concerned about an AI apocalypse. And Meta is going all in on it. It's up more than 700% since the fall of 2022. Yeah.

When it made that that pivot.

It's pretty remarkable to see. People love Muse. Yeah. They're excited about this little Tamagotchi type thing.

Yeah.

That you're going to be playing with, I guess.

Yeah. Well, not me, but I do at some point after the show, we don't have time now, I do want to show you a chart, a great meta chart. It actually illustrates all the times people have uh left them for dead and all the times that stock has roared back. So, yeah, counting out Zuckerberg uh is at least so far been a losing battle.

All right. Well, let's switch gears and talk a little bit about about um the Campbell company.

That's a pivot. H yeah,

this is the anti- AAI play, I guess. Down more than 2% today. In fact, uh it slid below a May low today to reach levels not seen going back to 1994.

Wow.

More than three decades ago. Stock is down close to 20% so far this month. It's on pace for its worst month going back to January of the year 2000. Remember, it's not just Campbell Soup, it's Pepperage Farm, it's Goldfish. Uh it's been one of the worst performers among consumer staples, uh S&P 600 this year. Um earlier this week it had its debt rating cut at Moody's. It expects further declines in revenue and operating profit in fiscal 2027 as the company tries to execute its turnaround plan.

And uh another one that I know is near and dear to uh Roma's heart is Nike. This one fell today uh down by about 7/10en of 1%. Um BA cut its recommendation on the company to underperform from neutral. The expectation for and as what they see as a sales turnaround will go into fiscal 2028. Nike does report Q1 earnings uh on October 1st. So, we'll hear from that company next [music] week. The Stock Movers Report from Bloomberg Radio.
