特朗普批评美联储主席及理事会对加息决策持敌对态度

Interest rates are too high. They're not appropriate. I talked to Kevin, and I said you might as well vote with the board because it's not gonna matter. The board is very hostile. They're very political. They're doing the wrong thing. They're a bunch of politicians. We should be play paying the lowest interest rate anywhere in the world. So here's the latest this morning. President Donald Trump blasting the Federal Reserve's unanimous rate hike decision, claiming he spoke to Fed chair Kevin Walsh ahead of the FOMC meeting.

Bloomberg's Tyler Kendall has more. Hey, Tyler. Hey, John. Good morning. Well, this will no doubt test the relationship between president Trump and his Fed chair, and those comments about this conversation they had will no doubt raise questions about that relationship. Because as you heard yesterday, the president seemed to be backing Kevin Worsch saying that he told him basically that he should go along and vote with the board, which he alleges is, quote, very political even as we hear from the Fed chair himself that the FOMC is focused on the economic fundamentals.

The president also went on to reiterate his claim that The US should have the lowest borrowing costs in the world even though the number of factors contribute to those borrowing costs, including a country's credit profile. And for The US, that's been impacted by an unsustainable debt trajectory. While for his part and on the other hand, wouldn't detail his conversations with the president, he did say the economy appears to be strengthening and that there's a, quote, attitude of optimism on the board.

President Trump spent yesterday in a campaign speech in North Carolina touting the economy as the White House continues to play defense on the issue. And in light of that, we have heard a flurry of proposals from the president recently, including that he could escalate trade policies if monetary policy isn't eased. Now, John, I would ask who is counting, but I know that we are. We are forty seven days away from the midterm elections, and we only expect the president's rhetoric to heat up from here.
