油价飙升推高美债收益率，ECB加息并暗示继续收紧

News when you wanted with Bloomberg News. Now I'm Nathan Hager. A surge in crude oil prices is keeping a lid on stocks and pushing Treasury yields back to multi-year highs. Right now, the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite are all down 4/10 percent. The ten year Treasury yield is up nearly eight basis points at close to 4.92%. The two year is at 4.52%. That's a gain of nearly ten basis points.

And Brent crude, the international benchmark, is up 4.5%, trading close to 06 a barrel. Now, with both the US and Iran signaling they are digging in for a longer war. Bloomberg's own A-Rod has the latest from Dubai. There's a possibility that we might see a return to what we have seen, uh, at the height of this conflict. Uh, attacks on energy sites elsewhere in the region. And we got a stark reminder of that earlier this week when houses claimed that they attacked, uh, and damaged, uh, Saudi energy sites.

Bloomberg's owner reports Saudi Arabia reported its lowest energy output since 1990 last month. In light of those attacks, as the war continues, it's getting tougher to track Iran's nuclear activity. International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi says there is some evidence of movement around Iran's pickax mountain. There are some indications that there is movement around this construction site, but US IAEA, we don't have any concrete information as to activities that may be taking place there.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi was a guest on Bloomberg Surveillance. UN inspectors have not been able to verify Iran's near weapons grade uranium stockpile in more than a year. Vice president JD Vance delivers the keynote speech on the final night of Republicans midterm convention this evening in Dallas, Texas. The president made that promise if Republicans win in November. Senate Majority Leader John Thune was asked if he has the votes to make it happen. We'll cross that bridge when we come to and obviously is the president. The condition he put on it is elect us. And I think the focus the emphasis that he was making there. Senate Leader John Thune spoke this morning on Fox News. The Trump administration announced today it's issuing $500 payments to nearly a million Americans, saying they were overcharged for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

The white House says the refunds, as it's calling them, will go to people in 30 states that have federal exchanges, including midterm battlegrounds like Alaska, Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin. The Supreme Court has blocked Missouri from using a congressional map that favors Republicans ahead of the midterms. The justices granted an emergency request from an anti gerrymandering group that's backing a voter referendum on this map.

A federal court order had ordered Missouri to use the GOP map, but that was in direct conflict with a Missouri Supreme Court ruling last week that the state should go back to its 2022 lines. Getting back to the market now, the latest on inflation is adding to bets that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates before this year is out. The producer price index hit a three month high in August 5.4%. Bloomberg's Michael McKee has more.

The August PPI numbers only include data through August 11th. So the big rise in oil prices we've seen in the big rise in diesel prices we've seen hasn't really been reflected in this. And then you take a look at what's happening with oil prices today. If that doesn't reverse, this all adds another layer of complexity to the fed. That's Bloomberg's Mike McKee. And before we see August consumer prices tomorrow markets are pricing in two rate hikes by January.

The European Central Bank raised its interest rate for a second time since the Iran war began this morning, sources tell Bloomberg News. ECB officials expect it to raise rates even further, and they could even bring another hike next month on Wall Street. Shares of Apple are higher by nearly 3% after the reveal of its first foldable iPhone. The iPhone duo will come with a 7.6in maximum screen size of ,999, minimum price tag and pre-orders starting October 16th.

Macy's reported earnings this morning. The department store giant beat on the top line of its comparable sales forecast, but the bottom end came up short and Macy's shares are lower by more than 3%. After the close we'll get earnings from Oracle. That stock has been struggling with investors worried about the massive debt load the companies built up from the I infrastructure build out. Dan Ives is tech analyst at Yorkville Ives, where he's been overblown relative to SaaS apocalypse.

And this morning, your Oracle shares are lower by 1.6%. Princess Diana's revenge dress is going up for auction at Sotheby's. The black number that the princess wore to a charity dinner in 1994 gained notoriety when her then husband, Prince Charles, told a TV interview that same night he had been unfaithful.
