US Strikes Targets in Iran Around Strait of Hormuz
地缘冲突实质性升级直接影响全球能源供应链与航运安全,需密切关注原油价格波动及霍尔木兹海峡通行风险变化。
Do wanna get back to that breaking news with Iran. Attacks on Iran just confirmed by The US. Tyler Kendall now joins us from our Washington office. Tyler, US forces began striking IRGC targets in Iran at noon eastern today. This is according to a post on X from US central command. What else can you tell us? Well, Tim, at this point, there are reports that CENTCOM's intended targets were near the Strait Of Hormuz continuing what has been tit for tat escalation so far this week.
Keeping in mind that this weekend marked the first kinetic action taken by The US in nearly a month because while we haven't really seen much movement in terms of the diplomatic progress, we really haven't seen much movement in terms of attacks on each other. But this latest bout of violence really started over the weekend when The US targeted rocket launchers that they say were intended to lay mines in the Strait Of Hormuz after The US had just confirmed on Friday that they had detonated and cleared all mines in the waterway that then started what we've been seeing, including Iran going after US forces in the region, multiple targeted when it comes to Jordan as well as bases in the New this morning, though, we did get some major escalation with two oil supertankers hit in the Strait Of Hormuz.
While no one has claimed responsibility for those attacks, it does continue what has been this escalation in recent days. Have we get gotten any comment from the White House? Has Iran made any statement about these attacks? At this point, Scarlet, I have I haven't seen that across the Bloomberg terminal quite yet. The confirmation that we have at the moment is from CENTCOM, which has in the past during, these, retaliatory strikes gone after some of those critical ammunition docks, launchers that sit around the Strait Of Hormuz.
This does come though amid last week when we had heard from Iran that they had struck a deal with Oman to reopen the waterway, though Iranian officials have repeatedly said that that would not mean that The US would actively be able to use it. It did appear that perhaps they were getting close towards announcing that, and that could also give us a little bit of insight about what started this latest flare up. Yeah. That's important context.
Thank you so much. Bloomberg's Washington correspondent, Tyler Kendall, joining us from our DC bureau.
