Stocks Mixed at Market Close, SpaceX Down, Lucid Group Announces Workforce Cuts: Money Minute
This is a Bloomberg Money minute. Markets ended the session mixed with the Dow gaining 148 points, or 3/10 of a percent. The S&P 500 dropped by 28 points, or 4/10 of a percent, while the Nasdaq fell sharply by 351 points, or one and a third percent. Space shares slipping for a third straight session after the company said it is selling investment grade bonds for the first time to fund its artificial intelligence ambitions. According to Bloomberg, SpaceX is seeking to raise at least $20 billion from the first bond offering. Shares had retreated by more than 8% over Wednesday and Thursday and fell today by more than 15%. More struggles for EV companies as lucid Group announced it was slashing its workforce for a second time this year. The cuts will impact about 18% of the staff in the US, and will save about $150 million annually going forward. Back in February, lucid cut 12% of its global workforce. Shares in lucid fell by close to 3.5%. Some of the roles being eliminated include top executive roles such as chief operating officer position Dan Schwarzman, Bloomberg.
