Let's take a look at some stocks on the move right now. Khloe Millie is our Bloomberg earnings reporter. The first one that I'm looking at today is Bending Spoon. So, we're seeing a real surge uh this morning in the shares because Burkshire Hathaway is investing an additional $330 million in the company. And when I say surge, I'm not exaggerating. The shares are up more than 50% uh this morning on the back of this.

Um and the latest investment means that the stake in Bending Spoons uh is now at 4%. And that's just a few months after Burkshire backed the the IPO uh with $600 million. And for Benning Spoons, that means that more capital to pursue a lot of different deals, which is exactly what it needs uh for uh as if because it continues to buy up all those digital businesses. That's really the sort of business model of that company, acquiring those established tech companies, shaking up the operations and trying to improve that profitability.

And there's some really well-known names in that portfolio, you know, names like we transfer, Vimeo, even Evan Bright as well. And so we're seeing this vote of confidence uh from Bergkshire count for a lot for investors and and really driving up those shares.

And Chloe, what else are we looking at this morning?

We're looking at Bank of America. John was mentioning it a little bit and it's not it's a very different story. It's notough a rough morning for that company. It missed estimates across equities and fixed income trading and that's really the key difference with some of its peers. So we have seen some weakness in bond trading for Goldman Sachs and from JP Morgan but actually quite resilient stock trading. Whereas here for Bank of America it's just weak across the board.

And in addition to that we also have uh the bank announcing a $1.2 billion charge uh for fines that are related to money laundering and sanctions violations as well. So that's a big hit of course on its own, but then there's also kind of longerterm implications uh to consider when it comes to higher compliance costs going forward, you know, to strengthen those monitoring systems, to train up personnel as well and everything.

So we've got the big penalty, we've got the longerterm implications and disappointing results. And so all of that is really weighing on the shares uh this morning. And some analysts are saying this is so far the worst of of those big bank results. um compared to to all those other peers that have been reporting this week. Um one bright spot is that the consumer is seems to be quite resilient. There's less money set aside for souring loans than what was expected.

All right, thank you for finding the, you know, silver lining in all of this.

One bright spot.

Uh last stock that you're watching.

Yeah, it's Liquidia, which is a biotech company, uh soaring this morning after reaching a settlement with a fellow biotech company called United Therapeutics. And so there was a dispute between the two uh firms that was centering around patent infringement. And there was a court ruling that found that liquidious product which is called utreia is a type of inhaler uh crossed the legal boundaries set by United's intellectual property.

And so now there's this settlement which essentially removes this huge overhang on on the stock. uh Liquidia will pay around $380 million in multiple installments over 2026 and 2027 to resolve that litigation and some analysts are saying this is better than the best case scenario and so that's really driving up that stock as well this morning
