Bloomberg Money Minute: US Consumer Sentiment Drops as US-Iran Talks Sink Oil Prices
This is a Bloomberg money minute. Rising prices are impacting our view of the economy. Consumer sentiment hit up four months low. The University of Michigan's final sentiment index decreasing for the month of September. Consumers also expect prices to rise 4.6% over the next year. We'll see if that rings in spending. Consumer spending helps fuel the U.S. economy. There was a degree of optimism for a deal with Iran that pushed oil lower.
U.S. and Iranian negotiators may be exploring a phased deal that would see Tehran reopen the Strait of Hormuz. It looks like Microsoft is throwing in the towel on its personal AI chat bot, the software giant merging the consumer and workplace versions of its Copilot AI assistant into one product aimed at corporate customers. And Lady Gaga helping Japan fight its labor shortage. The pop icon shelves, snacks, mops, floors and runs the Register in a new recruitment video from Family Mart.
