Bloomberg Audio Studios podcasts, radio, news,
the Stock Movers Report, your roundup of companies making moves in the stock market, harnessing the power of Bloomberg data. I'm Tim Stenc along with Carol Masser. Let's take a look at some stocks on the move. Today we are joined by Bloomberg News reporter Emily Grafo. What's up, Emily?
Hello. There's a lot moving today. At the index level, there was not a lot of movement, but the individual stocks.
Yeah. Really? Right.
Yeah. It was remarkable. Um I thought it was going to be difficult to find stocks. Um but it actually wasn't. And there's a big postmarket move. Aami, am I saying it right? Aami.
Akami Technologies jumping about 25% in postmarket trading. The ticker Akam. And this is all on news that Anthropic has signed an 11.6 billion 7-year contract with the company for computing power. So, Aami is a um they provide like computing services.
Yeah.
And they're going to supply anthropic access to central processing units, CPUs, chips essentially in this partnership. So, these deals are still getting done and the market is still excited and embracing uh any of the companies that can get involved on AI and chip related,
right? And there's an opportunity for Akami um or Anthropic to buy some of
Yes. some shares in the company as well.
It's just yeah
wild world, right?
Yeah. The AI developer has been on a buying spree for the compute necessary to meet the growing demand of AI because Yeah. basically to power AI, you need chips, you need storage, you need data centers, and you need power. Yeah. What what's so crazy to me is I mean I covered Netflix like you know million years ago
uh as a consumer technology reporter and Akami was always coming up because they were they powered Netflix's CDN or they were one of Netflix's CDN's a content delivery network.
Yeah.
And and like earlier today you know we we had Anurog on and he's like I didn't even know they were doing this type of thing but if you're looking for compute you're looking for wherever you can get it.
Yeah. Yeah. the stock um it's up 26% year to date as of the close of today. So that number will likely go up depending on how trad
Here's a little perspective. Go back to the end of 1999. How many years ago is that? It was a $327 a share stock.
AI.
Yeah.
Wow.
Oh wow.
I know.
And they haven't done a split or anything. So it's gone down.
I don't know. That's a good question. But nonetheless, um I don't know if it did a split.
That's wild. But yeah, but it was a very different
I'll look that up. Why don't you go on to
Carol's gonna do the the the looking up thing. I'm gonna go to our next mover and that would have to be another AI related name.
Yeah, another AI related name. I mean, this was one of the big stories of the day. It's Oracle. It finished the day down about 3.5%. Bloomberg reporting earlier this morning, the software company is moving to shield itself from racking up expenses on a data center project that they have in New Mexico. They sent a notice citing force majour to the data center projects developer. Um essentially what they're trying to do is put off payments if the data center failed.
Um the credit risk of Oracle has been rising all year and um it hit a record high today. So this was not good for anyone trying to lend money to Oracle watching their balance sheet. They've just they're investing in a lot of these data center projects and so we don't know a ton of details with this but like any hint that things aren't going well that they're not going to you know make money on all the investments that they made on AI and data centers is not good again saying well if they don't want it somebody else will pick it up right yeah credit risk
I know well
this is your world this is your world
by the way I think no stock splits
okay so okay so wait it's gone down
since then Yeah. So I mean it's 27 years.
Okay. So some relief um maybe from that just depending on when you got int. I want to make time for the last AI name.
Everpure.
Everpure. Ticker P. Um single P single ticker. Um it hit a record high today. It was up 11% at one point up as high as 20%. The data storage company forecast revenue for 2028 that exceeded the average analyst estimate. Wall Street was excited. They see revenue in 2028 7 billion to 7.3 billion versus estimates of about 6.2.
On a tear, man.
Was it number one gainer, I think, in the S&P 500 today.
