The most important thing is that we have higher growth. What we are seeing now is real wage growth, especially for the bottom quartile of wage earners, which is exactly what President Trump did in his first term. And we are working every day to bring costs down. We have a temporary elevated energy prices and these prices will come down. I don't know whether it is today, tomorrow or next week. We will get to the other side of this.

The economy is strong. Confidence there from US Treasury Secretary Scott. Percent. But the bond market keeps selling, erasing the impact of his buyback plan as rising oil prices fuel fresh inflation concerns. Live from Singapore. After a string of gains, Asia stocks are falling, succumbing to the pressure of higher oil prices and yields. The yield on the US ten year climbing to the highest in years. Let's check in on how markets are faring with Hong in Singapore April. Higher oil higher yields down. Equities go. Yeah we are seeing that decline after a session six string of gains on the apex benchmark. And ultimately I think they're succumbing as you say to the weight of high oil prices and yields and treasuries also are looking on the back foot which I'll get to in just a bit.

But today in terms of equities, you're seeing Japan, South Korea, its leading losses in the region. And sentiment is weak as well. Although it's worth highlighting that when it comes to the S&P 500 overnight somehow it managed to cap is declined to below 1%, something it's managed to do in the past month. And in terms of apex outlook, you still have the likes of Lombard Odier saying that they're constructive on equities, given how the underlying earnings picture still looks solid now when it comes to brand.

We saw it go past 97 earlier in the Asia session, although it's paring a little, and this is following on from the US saying that is completed as latest round of strikes on Iran. Now flip the board. When energy prices rise in such a manner it is threatening higher yields overall already against the backdrop, of course, of what we're seeing in terms of the government spending as well as corporate borrowings to come. And it's almost as if when it comes to yields, there isn't a cap to the upside for them.

And this is, of course, coming on a day where we've seen treasuries erase all of the gains since the Treasury secretary, Scott Bisson, announced two weeks ago that expansion of a buyback plan and not only that, if you look at the yield on the ten year, it is also at the highest since 2023. And you may recall back then, the fed was still in the midst of higher for longer. Now we're also seeing traders paying up for protection in the options market.

So they are positioning in a way that will benefit of yields continue climbing, including a notable one on Monday, $6.5 million bet on the 30 year yield, rising to as high as 5.7% by the end of November. I think the message is loud and clear from the world's largest bond market that, you know, all this Treasury buyback talk is not going to be enough. And investors also want to see a durable way out of the conflict between the U.S. and Iran and higher yields, not just for treasuries, but across the G20 universe.

Hong, thank you so much for that. President Trump says he couldn't care less if Iran signs a new peace agreement using a social media post to declare that he likes the current US position, claiming almost total control of the Strait of Hormuz. The conflict has escalated sharply this week, with US forces carrying out a fresh wave of strikes today, and the Iranians saying they have retaliated, hitting American bases in the region.

Let's cross to Dubai and our Middle East correspondent, Abir Abu Omar. A very fresh wave of strikes. Is this a resumption or an escalation of the conflict? Good morning Hassan. Well, a resumption of some kind racing a state of kinetic warfare in the region again, of course, the first attacks that were launched earlier in the week were the first in about a month by the United States on Iran, Iran retaliating. And then in the early hours of this morning, the U.S.

Central Command saying that they struck Iranian targets in some southern cities. Some casualties, of course, were reported in Iran. Also in Bandar Abbas, the, uh, the, the, the, the city that is close to the Strait of Hormuz, of course. And this is because of what President Trump had said or attempted or attempts by Iran to launch attacks on the Strait of Hormuz and mine it or put mines in it. Once again, Iran, of course, retaliating similarly to what it had done over the past few months, has lined up by launching attacks against U.S. bases in the region.

Jordan said that it intercepted ten ballistic missiles. And so we're definitely seeing a resumption in the military escalation and an escalation because we saw a period of a little bit of calmness. If you were a relative calmness, of course, we have the economic pressures by Scott that were laid out. He said that Iran was, as a matter of fact, freaking out over these economic pressures. And this is why it's retaliating on the street of Hormuz.

And of course, this all follows some attacks on the street yesterday. This maritime security company had reported that two supertankers, oil supertankers were hit by projectiles in the Straits. Or you're seeing action there as well, which is a quite dangerous, uh, escalation in the waterway, of course. and Secretary Barton weighed in, saying he expects Iran to be ready to negotiate an accord to end the war at some point.

What indications of getting from Iran itself? Yeah, that word at some point is quite tricky. Has Linda right? Because what we heard from the Iranian officials, the president of Iran, of course, he was in a conference in Kyrgyzstan. He did say that Iran was willing to go back to the MoU concessions. That, of course, MOU that was signed over two months ago. At this point, only if the U.S. were to go back to those concessions.

And of course, the Foreign minister ambassador actually had said that Iran would be willing to go back to diplomacy if the U.S. were to cease its pressure campaign. So it all hinges really on those conditions by the United States. If the U.S. were to let a first, Iran is willing to go back to the table. But of course, you heard from President Trump. He did say that he has no appetite to go back. So at this point, It really looks like both sides have no appetite to come back to diplomacy, no matter what the mediation effort is by countries in the region, whether it's Pakistan or Qatar.

Of course. Other. Thank you. Bloomberg Middle East correspondent Abel Abu Omar. Let's get perspective from our next guest. Two things. Bond markets may be the most important signal to watch into year end. Nur al-Din al-Hamawi, chief market strategist of equity Group, joins us from Dubai. Nur al-Din, good to have you with us. I mean, when you talk about yields, they're rising not just at the tail end, but also at the front and the belly.

How are you reading the signals? What is the market saying right now? Good morning and thank you for having me. Uh, I guess, uh, the era of, uh, easy diversification is being reasonably challenged. And, uh, that's basically the maybe, uh, the defining theme, uh, for the rest of maybe 2006, 62,026. In
