Traders boosting the odds of a Federal Reserve rate hike this month to about 70%, as Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh doubled down on his pledge to tame inflation. Speaking of that, gas prices are still setting records as we near Labor Day. Last month was the most expensive August ever when it comes to gas, according to triple AA. The average regular gallon cost $4.07, topping the old August high of 397 in 2022. A group of energy executives visit the white House today to discuss ways to lower prices.
