SpaceX is building a turbine-blade foundry because AI data centers are running into a power hardware bottleneck inside gas turbines.

But turbine makers are sold out until 2030, with blades and vanes among the components limiting additional supply.

So now Musk is planning for in-house casting of the turbine blades inside SpaceX that could bring turbines online up to 18 months sooner, shortening the gap between chip purchases and usable compute.
