And there's a closing bell for this Tuesday on Wall Street, where stocks rose as oil prices slid lower and traders passed that economic data before tomorrow's release of the Fed's preferred inflation gauge. And we're bring you the closing numbers each day here at Bloomberg. The S&P 500 gained 24 points. Nasdaq up 171 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 160 points.

The ten year Treasury yield at 4.62%. The two year yield at 4.17%. The 30 year Treasury yield at 5.16%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index now more than 1% higher, led by Nvidia, which is about 2% higher in regular trading. Chris Malone, a key executive overseeing open AI's data center buildout, reportedly left the company last week. The Wall Street Journal reports Malone's departure comes amid a broader exodus at the firm.

Meanwhile, OpenAI says its new chips will perform better than Nvidia's processors. Nvidia shares again about 2% higher in regular trading and we're waiting for Nvidia's earnings. We'll get those after the closing bell tomorrow. Iconic country music superstar Dolly Parton has died young. We love, we love you. Parton was known for hits like 9 to 5, Jolene, and I Will Always Love You. She was a renowned songwriter, actor, philanthropist and businesswoman who became one of America's most recognizable and beloved celebrities.

Dolly Parton had been having some unspecified health issues over the past few months. She died in Nashville. The cause was not released. Dolly Parton was 80 years old. Turning now to trade, Canada struck back at the United States with retaliatory tariffs on about $20 billion worth of American goods, including steel, dairy products, appliances and farm equipment. Canada's Minister of Finance Francois Champagne, says they're defending their workers and their industry.

Canada must respond. And today we are in a proportionate, targeted and strategic way. Today I am announcing that Canada will match the United States Tariffs. Dollar for dollar. Rate for rate. Canada's government unveiled a $7.5 billion package of support measures for Canadian businesses, including liquidity support grants and an extension of employment insurance programs in affected sectors. Paramount's guidance is considering a wide range of options to settle lawsuits challenging its acquisition of Warner Brothers discovery, including possible structural changes to the deal.

The company has weighed selling Warner Brothers channels like HGTV and the Food Network to settle the suits, and investment bankers have approached potential buyers with the idea of acquiring New Line Cinema. Paramount shares are about 3% higher in regular trading. Warner Brothers little changed in the regular session. LeBron James LLC borrowed almost $300 million from two Midwestern life insurers advised by Guggenheim Partners in 2018.

Sources tell Bloomberg the bonds, which are due in 2049 or structured to provide immediate cash to James and backed by a stream of future revenue tied to his earnings outside basketball. The burst of lending began before Guggenheim's leader, Marc Walter, acquired the LA Lakers, which he agreed to sell this month. Two unvaccinated people have died of measles in Pennsylvania, marking the first U.S. deaths this year, as the U.S. is now seeing its largest outbreak of measles in more than 30 years.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is urging people to get vaccinated. This disease does not respect county lines or religious lines. It goes, after all, who are unprotected. The centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed 2700 measles infections this year through August 20th, already surpassing a 35 year high. United Airlines is adding ten destinations in Europe and Asia to its network next year. CEO Scott Kirby says customers are ready to go.

Demand is strong, really across the board. Um, you know, from premium all the way to base economy, we really haven't seen any cracks in demand. And the economy is held up better than, than, um, than the pundits would have thought. Um, and even then I would have thought, uh, given everything that's happening in the world. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby on Bloomberg surveillance. United Airlines shares gained about 2% in regular trading.
