[music] Bloomberg Audio Studios podcasts, radio, news,
the Stock Movers Report, your roundup of companies making moves in the stock market, harnessing the power of Bloomberg data. I'm Tim Stenc along with Nora Melinda. Let's take a look at some stocks on the move today. We're joined by Bloomberg News Activities [music] reporter Avalon Pernell. Hey Avalon.
Hi. We have to start off with probably the biggest story in post market. That's [music] in it. That's ticker nu currently slumping about 9.3% post market and that's after the tax software maker behind names like QuickBooks and Turboax gave an annual profit forecast that fell pretty well short of expectations vital knowledge highlighting that this is just a generally an underwhelming release and noting as well that while the guidance definitely undershot consensus the company's performance isn't nearly as bad as headlines may seem.
Also worth noting though that despite this, the print is definitely going to add fuel to investor concerns about the so-called SAS apocalypse. And you know, adding to the questions about how exactly is AI going to cannibalize or change the business of software as a service companies.
Yeah, this stock was getting hammered this year, has been getting hammered this year, down more than 40% going into today's print. So, this isn't helping. Look, it's postmarket right now. We got to wait to see what exactly happens on the call and what the trade looks like tomorrow, but as of now, not looking too promising. Exactly. Interesting. Interesting. Spire Therapeutics. Is that how you
You can always count on a healthcare name.
Oh, yeah. That is ticker S Yre. It's currently also falling about 13% postmarket and that's after a biotech reported some mixed early stage results for its drug to treat patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Perhaps more importantly, the drug kind of fell short of the company's internal bar for developing it as a monotherapy. That's really important considering the fact that immunology and also inflammation is just a red-hot area within therapeutics.
We had humira which was a blockbuster drug and people are just trying to crowd into that area. But sheel actually writing already that they expect to see weakness given how underwhelming that data was.
Hold on. Can I ask you some more details about this just from a healthcare perspective? [laughter] When you talk about these anti-inflammatories, what what are they treating?
Well, they're treating a wide range of autoimmune diseases. So you have things like rheumatoid arthritis but also other things that could be autoimmune related.
So it's all autoimmune
generally speaking. Yes.
And there has been a lot written about a rise in autoimmune conditions.
Yes.
Among adults these days.
Exactly. Plus I mean this is also an area where you could potentially have more biologics which those are protected differently. Meaning with like your patent exclusivity, you're going to be able to have a much longer time before generics can come in, which is another really important piece when you're looking at what could be a very profitable area of the markets. You likely would want to go towards there.
A couple postmarket movers, we can't forget about a huge mover in today's cash session.
Yes. Another loser on the market unfortunately is Dick Sporting Goods. That's ticker DKS. It dropped by a record 31% into the close today. And that's after the retailer slashed its annual net sales and adjusted operating income guidance amid weakness at Foot Locker. Their chairman also saying in the earnings call that they're expecting more pain to come, especially in a very key area of sneakers. And I mean that also led a lot of different athletic companies to also drop as well.
Looking at Nike, Lululemon, Deckers, all lower in today's session just given this earnings print.
Yeah, I mean Nike a supplier to both Dick Sporting Goods and Foot Locker. Take a look at Dicks and Nike and they're actually both down still here uh as we take a look at, of course, how it ended on the day, but it looks like they're a little bit higher in the postmarket trade. So, we'll see if this [music] settles by tomorrow.
