This is a Bloomberg money minute. Due to disruptions to oil shipments, mainly from Iran in the Russia-Ukraine war, the global oil supply has tightened, leading to refiners in Asia turning more to the U.S. to source their crude. Commodity trading companies tell Bloomberg that U.S. oil exports to Asia are on pace to hit 40 million barrels in September, which would be nearly double the amount exported in August. The buying spree has put a strain on U.S. supplies and could push prices even higher, with the national average now at $4.09 a gallon, according to triple J.

Companies aren't explicitly saying what's behind the shift, but industry experts are pointing to weight loss drugs for the drop in demand, according to research from BWC. Around 21% of U.S. households include someone using a GLP one. Wall Street. Off to a good start, with all three indices seeing gains in the Dow around 2/10 of a percent, the S&P up over a third of a percent, while the Nasdaq has gained around three quarters of 1%.
