I'm Steven Carroll and [music] I'm joined by Bloomberg reporter Khloe Mele for more. Khloe, good morning. Let's start with the steel maker SSAB moving higher in response to the US Canada trade tensions.

Yeah, absolutely. We're seeing a few of those steel companies including SSAB and Nor Hydro as well climbing uh this morning because of this collapse of the deal talks between the US and Canada. So the reason for that is that we had very high tariffs on well we have now very high tariffs on Canadian steel and that's really been restricting Canadian competitors and created a very sort of tight market in the US with very high prices and so that meant a very nice profit margins for European steel producers in that US market.

So that's been very positive for SSAB and and North Hydro. Um and then there were news of a potential US Canada trade deal uh cutting tariffs on uh some of those steel and aluminum exports to 25%. And so that had sent those shares for SSAB and NOS Hydro down because of course that would have eased this sort of very tight supply and elevated pricing in the US market. But now uh as as we know those deal talks have collapsed.

Uh Canada is seeing very little chance of those talks resuming anytime soon. Um and therefore this is essentially there's a resumption of the status quo for those European steel producers. And so we have losers in one place creating winners in another. And so we are seeing some of those names are climbing in response to that this morning.

Yeah, very interesting to see how that's responding given that we've also seen the weakening of the Canadian dollar currently 610 weaker against the US dollar as well. Next up we're going to go to Norway. BW Offshore, what's the news from them? Yeah. So, BW Offshore is a company that operates vessels for oil and gas production and so it cut its profit forecast this morning and this follows another uh profit guidance cut back in May.

So, this is a company that is struggling quite a bit at the moment. The main challenge that is dealing with is operational setbacks and quite a lot of delays for its flagship uh vessel called BW Opal which is in Australia. Um and it said this morning that it had booked an impairment of $125 million on this project and that it will now be completed in the second quarter of 2027. So there's been kind of successive delays there.

Um and that's really impacting the uh profit outlook for the company and that has led to a really really big drop in the shares this morning and bringing down the overall uh drop this year to about 11%. So, a little bit of of a an issue there and it'll just need to kind of figure out this BW Opal project until investors kind of give that back that vote of confidence.

Yeah, nice rice in the shares for uh Oxford Nanopore this morning after getting upgraded by Pamela Liberum analysts. So the analysts have said that the new strategy that was unveiled uh just last week from the company actually was addressing a lot of the concerns that they had over uh the company. Um so the strategy that was revealed last week is really on focusing on the most lucrative opportunities in gene sequencing.

And so the goal with this new re this new focus uh is to deliver more than $700 million in revenue by 2030 and then a longerterm sales target of about $1 billion. So analysts have said that this strategy has a really good potential of kind of widening the adoption of Oxford Nanopul technology. Um but they also warned that some of those changes will take some time. there will be some risk potentially to long-term guidance uh because it will take maybe a little bit of of time for the transformation to occur.
