Let's take a look [music] at some stocks on the move today in Europe. I'm James Woolcock with Stephen Carroll, and we are joined by Bloomberg's [music] breaking news editor, Louise Moon. Louise, let's start with JD Sports. They cut their profit outlook. That's normally not received very well.

No, and and similar this morning. Shares down as much as 11% this morning on the back of that. So, as I say, cut their profit outlook. So, it was for as much as 850 million pounds, and now 800. Um that's off their second quarter results. They described that as tough, uh tough period. They said the market was highly promotional, and their uh consumers hit by the cost of living, which is something that they've mentioned before.

So, weaker sales of trainers there. Um it's all on the back of a hard period for the sports fashion sector in general.

Obviously, as we've mentioned, cost of living um pressure there on disposable income. JD in particular has warned about high unemployment among its young shoppers. Um what quite a key component for them. They've also uh as in a specific factor for them, they've also been hit by struggles at Nike, which is a key supplier for them. So, they're expecting this tough trading to continue in the second half. Um they recently appointed the former boss of IKEA as their chairman, so hoping that that will help with a turnaround.

Yeah, it certainly is. Currently, they're down In fact, now they're drop steepening down almost 15% in trading. The insurer Aegon next, they're dropping also following their interim results.

Yeah, shares down around 5%. That's the worst drop since March. They had their first half results. Um, quite interesting. So, headline numbers came through quite strong, and analysts are noting that. They're saying, you know, operating profit and capital both topped estimates, but they're noting that that's mainly thanks to one-off factors. Um, and they're also saying that the stock's kind of performed well in the lead up to this.

Now, Louise, when you bring the same stock into the studio two days in a row, it's normally either very good news or very bad news. Which is it for Trainline?

I'm sad to say it's very bad news. So, Trainline is extending yesterday's drop. So, we spoke about them yesterday, they fell 17% uh today another about 6% on the same factor. So, yesterday we spoke about this, the the the CMA, the competition regulator in the UK, is investigating Trainline for drip pricing. So, difference in the price that's initially advertised and then added extras, so the overall price ends up being higher.

Now, the fresh news is that JP Morgan's cut its price target on Trainline on the back of that. So, they're saying um that the investment case is increasingly contained. This is what they're saying uh by structural and regulatory headwinds. There's also growing competition and AI-related uncertainty. So, this new investigation adds a kind of another layer of risk um for Trainline. Uh they're saying there's no visibility at the moment on scope and remedies um around this as well.

Should be noted that they are the only negative rating on Trainline, so it's only got one sell, one hold, and it's actually still got 11 buys. So, potentially a slightly outlier [music] opinion, but it's still pulling the stock lower. As I say, by about 6%.
