And there's a closing bell for this Wednesday on Wall Street where stocks inch towards new highs led by the tech sector after a subdued inflation reading helped ease interest rate hike concerns. And we're going to get into that CBA data just coming up ahead. But first we bring you the closing numbers each day here at Bloomberg, the S&P 500 gained 20 points.

Nasdaq gained 143 points and the Dow lost 22 points. The ten year Treasury yield at 4.68%. The two year yield at 4.19%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index gained about 3%, led by micron, which jumped about 6% in regular trading. Cisco forecast revenue for the first quarter, the guidance beating the average analyst estimate. Shares of Cisco up 7% in the post-market. This just crossing the Bloomberg terminal. President Trump says press Secretary Caroline Leavitt will be leaving that job later this month.

He made the announcement in a social media post. Leavitt has served as press secretary since Trump returned to office in 2025. She recently gave birth to her second child. Leavitt said in her own social media post that the job is taking a toll on her family. The president did not immediately name a successor to Leavitt. The Los Angeles Lakers are being sold to businessman Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for a record breaking prize, the second such sale in a year.

The deal is for $12.5 billion. Bloomberg senior reporter Randall Williams says it's just not clear why the Lakers would be sold. Now there's a DOJ investigation into into Marc Walter. But there was another report that I saw that had that said he had health issues as well, but it's unclear as to why. Marc Walter, who just bought the Lakers for $10 billion, would flip this, uh, prized asset as quickly as he did. Bloomberg's Randall Williams on Bloomberg Intelligence.

Now, Randall did just mention that DOJ investigation into Marc Walter Walter's investment empire has been facing scrutiny from U.S. prosecutors. Now we can tell you his firm, global, is in talks with investors to raise money to help pay down loans on the books of its insurers. Iran has reorganized its military to be more aggressive, as talks with the U.S. are at a stalemate, with little sign of a breakthrough over the Strait of Hormuz.

Oil swung between gains and losses, traders parsing data from leading energy forecasters and CBS reporting the number of vessels tracked passing through the strait fell to a one week low of eight, down from about 130 ships per day before the war started. Now let's look at that inflation data. Traders were pricing in 5050 odds for a fed rate hike before this morning's CPI numbers. With the July consumer price index coming in right where economists expected. Bloomberg Intelligence chief U.S. rates strategist IRA Jersey says it probably won't change things too much for the fed. The good thing for the fed before the September meeting is we're going to get the August numbers.

But at the same time, um, I think the probability distribution of some outcomes is going to change, um, because we got, you know, a significant blowout one way or the other here. The outbreak is being isolated to iceberg lettuce from Mexico.
