I'm Steven Carroll. I'm joined by Bloomberg's markets reporter, Anthony Stevens. Anthony, let's start with biotech [music] shares and China getting a boost from progress on anti-obesity drugs.

Yeah, China healthcare has been one of the lagards globally. Uh Indian healthcare and the US healthcare sector have been leading the way. Indian healthcare for example up 20% odd in the year. Um US healthcare has just been on a constant tear on the back of M&A and new drugs in chronic illness. And now China is getting in on the act. Uh they've made some progress licensing anti-obesity drugs to Europe. uh and this comes on their longestablished leadership on the oncology front and unfortunately the world is suffering from you know pretty much an epidemic of chronic illness uh around obesity diabetes and cancer and names like farmer for example is up 3% Hanso farmer up 3% and it's interesting to note that the farmer rally extends even into Korea where you have lagards like the like of Seltrion which is up 5% uh and the smaller names within the CDC index X also doing quite well.

So farmer emerging here in the second half of the year as a real outperformer and a place to hide from some of this AI volatility uh as some of these new drug advances come through. Bear in mind that President Trump's kind of clampdown on drug pricing does not impact the margins in some of these more innovative treatments and that's where the kind of the Asian players that are rallying seem to be clustered.

Okay, so really interesting story that's moving markets today. We're going to turn to Singapore next. shares continuing to move higher. The city state forecasting stronger growth.

Yeah, Singapore's increased the upper range of its uh GDP growth forecast and this is being powered by both its uh status as a wealth management hub uh and a AI hub. Uh Singapore is a low-key AI hub in terms of data centers for the region and it's really doing quite well with not a lot of drama. From a sharp ratio perspective, the SDI index has a sharp of over four, which is ridiculously high for something that is not considered a very exciting index. and results are coming through very well.

Uh Yangza Jang shipping is up almost 10% after one of these port and shipping operators in Singapore uh released very strong results. That comes on the back of OCBC having strong results and OCBC carries on past its record highs. It's up 3% again today.

Okay, so that's what's moving in Singapore. And we have to of course talk about tech shares. Ashley, we can't leave it any day out now. We're watching Samsung and South Korea, but also keeping an eye on those optical shares that have been in focus in recent days.

Yeah, this speaks to two different spread trades. So, first off, Samsung has been outperforming Heinix now on the way up. UBS is on the tape saying that Samsung is actually going to overtake Heinix for the first time since the AI boom started in terms of HBM uh HBM uh shipments. Uh and that points to a really important dynamic about Samsung. They're quite a diversified business. Their high-end phone business is doing reasonably well. uh their vanilla DR business DRM business is doing really well because of the kind of one-off margins on that product and if they manage to overtake Heinix and HBM then you have a real powerhouse and investor base has really been piling into that theme.

So today for example Samsung is up 3.6% versus Heinix up just 1%. Uh and it's and it's a bigger part of the uh Cosby index. So it might actually stabilize sentiment there. Now the other trade that people have been talking about is the US optical names versus the Chinese optical names as President Trump and his administration look to restrict Chinese access into US data centers for components. Now that's been pushed back on uh by US research saying that um US research companies saying that the Chinese have a position that is unassignable in the short run in terms of their manufacturing province.
