Coming up today, a brighter economic outlook and stronger earnings are changing investors views of Europe. Iran promotes a former military commander to its top security role as Thran rules out direct talks with the US. Plus, luxury cars, boybands, and stacks of cash.

What an extravagant 20 million wedding says about Zimbabwe's new generation of tycoons. Let's start with a roundup of our top stories. Europe's economic outlook is set to improve in the coming months after proving surprisingly resilient to the effects of the Iran war. After a stronger than expected second quarter, a Bloomberg survey of analysts has now raised its Euro zone growth forecast to 0.8% for the year, up from 0.5% in July.

That resilience is also showing up in European stock markets as companies across the continent deliver their best earnings growth in four years. The stock 600 is up 11% this year and on a forward earnings basis is now at its smallest discount to the S&P 500 since 2022. Maline Roner is senior portfolio manager at DWS.

This one was one of the best earning seasons that we have seen in Europe for quite a while and it's a pretty promising picture because yes, expectations have been higher than in recent quarters, but they're still not quite as high as for example in the US. So there's still more room for upside surprises as well as expectation beats and raises.

Maline Roner sentiment is reflected more broadly with surveys showing that many fund managers have shifted from underweight Europe to overweight. Iran has named hardline former revolutionary guard commander Mosen Resi as its top national security official. The move comes as Iran says an agreement with Oman on a shipping route through the straight of Hormuz is very close. Our Middle East correspondent Tabir Abu Omar says Tean has ruled out direct talks with the US for now.

Iran maintains that Washington is not a part of those discussions despite what we've heard from President Trump and the vice president about them being part of those discussions. Iran maintains that mediators assumingly Qatar at this point are the ones that are delivering messages. We also understand that Qatar is doing its own draft to start mediating to have those wider discussions. But for the time being, Herm stays paralyzed pretty much.

Attacks continue to happen and we don't have a formalized draft between Iran and Arman about that deal.

Aira speaking there as President Trump says he's prepared to allow economic pressure on Iran to mount rather than launch a new military offensive. Speaking to Axios, Trump claims the US is quote low-keying it and semi-negotiating with Thran, which he says is in very bad shape economically. The remarks follow weeks of threats of massive air strikes that Trump has then repeatedly called off. The alleged leader of an Irish organized crime gang has been extradited to Dublin from Dubai.

Daniel Kenahan landed in Ireland yesterday where he was charged with directing the activities of a criminal organization at a special court sitting. Arlas Tishak Mihal Martin highlighted the joint efforts involved in the extradition operation.

I pay tribute to the authorities in the United Arab uh Arab Emirates um for the strong cooperation with Ireland over recent years uh in this field more generally.

That's Ireland Mihal Martin. Following the court hearing, Kenahan was remanded in custody at a highsecurity prison in Port Leia, 90 mi southwest of the capital. His next court appearance is scheduled for October. Hiring in the UK is turning a corner after its longest slump on record. Data from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation shows the number of people getting permanent jobs holding steady. That's after 45 straight months of declines, but the organization warns that any recovery would depend on the decisions new Prime Minister Andy Bernham makes in his October budget.

AI boot camp courses are surging in popularity as workers race to learn new skills. The news comes as new research shows the number of employers who expect entry-level recruits to be AI competent has tripled. Limber's TA Adabio has more. Before the launch of Chat GPT, just 2% of the professional certificate market was focused on AI. Now, short-term AI training programs, often called boot camps, have exploded to nearly a third of the credential market, according to workforce database Revelio Labs.

Some businesses are even willing to foot the bill to prepare their teams for what they see as a fast approaching future. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, anxiety about AI has surged along with demand for quick training programs. Meanwhile, universities are beginning to offer AI courses to everyone from seuite executives to software engineers as they face declining enrollments and threats to their business model.

In London, Tim Adabio, Bloomberg Radio and a multi-million pound energy project was diverted in Britain because of Harry Potter fans. The 430 million pound green link interconnector joins the UK's national grid to Ireland and came online last year. James Wilco has the story. Modern technology can sometimes feel like magic, but listening to Green Link's former project manager, Simon Lulham, talk on the Energy Revolution podcast about building it.

Oil and gas prices are slightly higher as well. Brent crude is just close to $84 a barrel. Well, in a moment more on that brighter picture for Europe's economy and markets, plus what a lavish wedding in Zimbabwe tells us about those who hold power in the country. But first, another story that caught her eye this morning on investing in YouTubers. Bloomberg opinion columnist Lionella Ron when speaking to the founder of the investment firm Nugget, which is putting5 million pounds into British YouTubers, believing they're an undererved asset.

Nugget founder Jonathan Freedelland has picked creators like Only Scrates to back. His firms offer a mix of capital investment and access to tools to these creators for them to boost growth. And he's not alone in wanting to invest in these uh creators. The so-called creator economy covering platforms like Tik Tok and Instagram is projected by Goldman Sachs to grow to $480 billion by 2027. That'll be up from $250 billion in 2023.
