They moved the motors into the forearm, then routed tendon drives through the wrist. That keeps the hand lighter while giving each finger more useful motion and force.
The hand has 22 powered freedoms across fingers and palm, plus 3 at the wrist.
Its tactile sensors read pressure, contact location, and sideways slip during a grasp.
This means Neo can adjust before a coin, grape, or tool falls away.
The IP68 rating also makes the hand usable around sinks, food, and wet surfaces. The catch is that Neo is not purely autonomous for every chore yet.
1X still uses Expert Mode, where a remote human can guide difficult tasks.
A human hand uses the same broad trick, with muscles pulling tendons across joints.
1X is applying that idea to humanoid robotics, where compact hands must handle real objects.
