President Trump and his allies are renewing a push to reshape the Federal Reserve after the Supreme Court blocked his effort to fire Fed Governor Lisa Cook. Bloomberg's Enda Curran with more from Washington. The political pressure undecided, even though it seems, have quieting down, with new chairman Kevin Moore saying it hasn't gone away. And our colleagues reporting that the white House is determined to continue to look for ways to get some of its own supporters onto the defense board.

Brant oil could fall to $60 a barrel by year end as disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz ease. That's according to Citigroup. Global energy markets are rapidly getting back to normal as a resumption of goods flows through Hormuz, leading to Brant sinking by 30% in the second quarter and undoing all the gains seen during the conflict. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs has said the global oil market is set to swing back into oversupply as the impact of the Iran war fades.

Millions of Americans are driving this July 4th despite soaring gas prices. Bloomberg's Monica Rix reports. A record setting 61.4 million people are expected to hit the road, wincing at the cost of gas because it's still running nearly a dollar a gallon higher than before the start of the war in Iran. Sure, they fallen sharply in recent weeks, but this Independence Day period is set to be the third most expensive for U.S. drivers on record, with the national average now at 381 a gallon.

Triple A says nearly half of Americans have changed their summer travel plans because of it, with many offsetting higher costs by taking shorter vacations, choosing closer destinations, or cutting back on extras like eating out or buying souvenirs. Monica Rix, Bloomberg Radio. President Trump is defending his family's business dealings after financial disclosures showed his net worth has risen by around $2 billion during the first year of his term.

Trump claims he isn't aware of the extent of his digital asset holdings, but says there's nothing illegal about his involvement. Treasury Secretary Scott Bassett also doesn't think it's a problem. I don't think there's a preference for the president. This is an innovation presidency. So whether it's digital assets, whether it's A.I., whether it's everything that is going on in the tech ecosystem that the, you know, all Americans are benefiting from that.

That's Scott Bezzant on CBS news. According to a financial disclosure released earlier this week, Trump earned about $1.4 billion from his crypto ventures, including his Trump meme coin and World Liberty Financial, which is a crypto holding backed by the president and his family. The rush is on in Venezuela to find more victims of two powerful earthquakes that have now killed about 2300 people. LA County Deputy Chief Chris Allander is part of an international rescue team there.

Everything is just utter devastation. I've never been in an innocent situation where all of the high rise buildings completely toppled. The country is overwhelmed with bodies. Officials say they're struggling to identify and preserve. A six day long funeral for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has begun. With millions expected to flood the streets to honor the 86 year old cleric. Tehran also hopes support for the Islamic Republic can provide a boost for its government this weekend, as it tries to leverage its hold on the Strait of Hormuz in negotiations with the U.S..

The Trump administration's latest plans for its border wall are drawing some opposition deep in the heart of Texas. Bloomberg's Nathan Hager explains from Washington a recently updated map from U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows about two miles of the 30ft steel barrier would run through Big Bend Ranch State Park. That's setting up a clash with park lovers, many of whom are Republicans who otherwise support the Trump administration's border policy.

Critics say the wall will mar a wild expanse of rugged canyons and desert along the Rio Grande. CPB says there are no plans to build a wall in the nearby Big Bend National Park in Washington. I'm Nathan Hager, Bloomberg Radio. We're seeing dangerous triple digit heat across the U.S. today, and it's straining electricity supplies while prompting the biggest U.S. grid operator to declare a level two alert. That's one notch shy of forced power outages.

Bloomberg meteorologist Craig Allen is tracking how long this could last. About two dozen states have heat alerts right now. Most of them are warnings for the excessive heat, featuring blistering 95 to 105 degrees and heat index numbers topping 110 in some cases. So unfortunately, we'll have to deal with this for two more days. But with more cloud cover and the threat of thunderstorms lingering on Sunday, it could mean an end to the 90s.

And by Monday and Tuesday, it will be much easier to enjoy the outdoors. That's meteorologist Craig Allen. Wall Street closed for the July 4th holiday, but overseas markets were open, with the Footsie London gaining 2/10 of a percent. The cat in Paris added a half percent, while the Dax in Germany finished up 9/10 of 1%. In Asia, the Nikkei in Japan closed up 1.5%, the Hang Seng in Hong Kong gained 1.3%, while China's CSI 300 finished up 6/10 of a percent.
