This is a Bloomberg money minute. Wall Street today wrapping up its best quarter of gains in six years. That's thanks to a surge in shares of chipmakers in I. Related stocks. And today, after strong signs about jobs and consumer confidence, that's fueling optimism about the upcoming second quarter earnings season. Today, the Dow ended 136 points, closing at a fresh record high. The tech heavy Nasdaq up 394. That's a 1.5% jump.
The S&P added 59 big gains. The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear an appeal by Apple that's regarding a contempt ruling against the iPhone maker and its long running antitrust battle with Fortnite maker Epic Games. That's over the fees it charges on its App Store, and a real about face today from the FDA, which has given Philip Morris, the maker of Marlboro and other cigarettes, the okay to market its zehn nicotine pouches as less harmful, less risky than cigarettes.
